As the Guyanese darts contingent prepares to compete in Trinidad and Tobago in July, members have pulled out all the stops in order to make sure that they are successful at the Americas Cup and Caribbean Championships.
As such, the man who can be regarded as Guyana’s best darts player is scheduled to travel to the Caribbean to participate in the highly-anticipated competition. Norman Madhoo will be flying to Guyana from Florida within a week’s time, in order to prepare for the competition with local players.
Madhoo is no stranger to success in the darts arena; in fact, he is the former Guyanese national champion, a title he held consistently for 10 years. His accomplishments include victories at the Caribbean and South American masters in 2003, 2009 and 2010. He then went on to become the only person to represent Guyana, the Caribbean, and South America at the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) World Championship hosted in London on four separate occasions.
The Americas Cup and Caribbean Championships are slated to run from July 6-16, and Guyana have named a 13-member male and female team, which have had success in the past. That team include reigning singles champion Sudesh Fitzgerald, Luis Miguel Ramirez, Lallchand Rambharose, Norman Madhoo, Adrian Damon, Fedel Hunter, Andrew Balchand, Mary Correia, Melisa Smartt, Shondell Hyles, Hemwantie Balchand and Victorine Chandro.
The Guyanese team will seek to add to their titles while defending their male singles and doubles titles.
