Chris Gopaul, a 33-year-old fisherman of Riverview, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was arrested on November 30 and charged on Monday with attempted rape. The details of the matter were not available.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Alisha George at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Courts, where the allegation was read to him. He was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge.
Gopaul was remanded to prison until January 9, 2024.
