Mahdia exacted sweet revenge on 2016 Male Cricket champions Region Two United with a nine-wicket victory on Sunday at the Everest Cricket Club ground at Camp Road and Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown.
Led by A. Gibbons with a pugnacious 52 not out, Mahdia raced to their maiden title with 6 overs and one ball to spare when they reached 81/1 in 3.5 overs.
Earlier, Region 2 Utd won the toss and got to 76/8 from their 10 overs, with Fenton Jacobis hitting 23.
M. Jeffers took 2/8 from 2 overs for the new champions.
In the female cricket competition, Pakuri Warriors edged past Capoey by 5 wickets with 2 balls to spare.
Capoey made 77/5 (10) with Gailann Edwards stroking 32 not out. Avonel Simon took 2-10.
Kristia Ferreira blazed the trail with an attacking 53 not-out and finished the game with a 6 which also brought up her half century. Pakuri Warriors ended on 81/4 from 9.4 overs.
