Mahdia woman died from strangulation, blunt force trauma – PME

…wanted bulletin issued for house guest

The body of a woman who was reported missing since July 5, in Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni) was found in close proximity of her home.
Dead is 55-year-old Nariman Latifan of Salbora Backdam, Mahdia and also of Lima Dam, Essequibo Coast.
According to reports, on July 5, at about 11:05h, the woman’s reputed husband went to the Police Station and reported that he had left his wife at their home at Salbora Backdam, and went to a work area, that was not too far away from their home.
Upon returning home in the afternoon, the man said he found his home ransacked, and calls made to his wife went unanswered.
Shortly after, ranks visited the scene and a search was carried out for the man’s wife. It was then Police reportedly found blood stains around the house, which sparked their suspicion that something was amiss.
Further searches around the area uncovered what appeared to be intestines that belonged to a human.
The next day Police said the woman’s body was found not too far from her home. An autopsy that was conducted on the body revealed that the woman died from ligature strangulation, compounded by blunt force trauma to the head.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Police issued a wanted bulletin for a man who might be responsible for the woman’s death.
Dexter James known as “Limuel Alphanso”, 48, of Campbelltown, Mahdia, is wanted for questioning in relation to the woman’s death. A Police source told Guyana Times that James was allegedly living with the dead woman and her husband and was caught stealing from the couple.
It was reported that shortly after the woman went missing, James allegedly disappeared from the area, which caused investigators to believe that he must have had a hand in the woman’s death.
The Police Force is asking anyone who might know the whereabouts of James to contact the Force on 226-6979, 225-8196, 227-1611, 225-2317, 225-8196, 638-8440, or the nearest Police station.
