Maintenance worker charged for stealing phone

A maintenance worker was on Wednesday slapped with a simple larceny charge after it was alleged that he stole a cellular phone.
Junior Sears, 22, of Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara (EBD) denied that he committed the act when he stood before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
It is alleged that he stole the Samsung J 7 cell phone valued $89,999, property of Latoya Gomes. Sears was bailed in the sum of $50,000, and will reappear in court on August 15.
Meanwhile, a Laing Avenue, Georgetown fisherman was also before Magistrate Azore, charged for committing robbery-under-arms.
Colin Moore denied robbing Sheldon Smith of $20,000 while being armed with a weapon on July 24, 2018.
The robbery reportedly occurred while Smith was walking along Croal Street, Georgetown and was approached by Moore and others. However, as the case file was incomplete, the defendant was placed on $25,000 bail. His case will continue on August 15.
