GMR&SC Ignite race meet…
– Jeffrey, Truelove dominate
On Saturday, the Radical SR3 Caribbean Cup made its maiden run in the time trials, as the GMR&SC Ignite race meet got underway at the South Dakota Circuit.
The track’s record is in jeopardy after the Barbadian Mark Maloney, with his SR3, turned in a blistering unofficial time of 32.978s to secure the pole position and eclipse the record of 33.3s.
Guyana’s Calvin Ming was second fastest, with 32.986 seconds. Current championship leader Stuart Maloney, also of Barbados, was third with 33.157 seconds, while Kristian Jeffrey (GUY) was fourth with 33.200 seconds.
However, the performances of Jeffrey and Team Mohamed’s Harry Truelove could not be overshadowed, as they both acquired the pole position in the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) Group 4 and Superstock categories.
Jeffrey, with a time of 33.3s, claimed the pole ahead of Mark Maloney (35.259s) and Guyana’s Noel ‘Rupie’ Sewjattan (35.767s).
Meanwhile, Truelove, who rides under Team Mohamed’s Enterprise, overshadowed the performance of his brother and current CMRC superstock leader, Matt Truelove.
Harry’s 33.997s was not the fastest bike time of the day, but with Richard Cooper riding for Team Mohamed’s Enterprise, the superstock bike posted an impressive 33.592 time.
Matt clocked a 34.050s for second, with Steven Vieira stopping the clock at 34.866s and Matthew Vieira being fourth with 35.665s.
Group Two has Marc Gill of Trinidad (38.271) starting on pole today, with Shan Seejattan second by just one-tenth of a second, and Chet Singh being third.
Group Three has Kristian Boodoosingh out of Trinidad (35.665) on pole, ahead of countryman Ronald Wortman and Rameez Mohamed.
Annand Ramchand has pole in the Choke Starlet Cup.
In the first of three races yesterday, Zalim Mohamed took the Street Cross class ahead of Rene Tucker and Shem Cattergoon, while the Street Tuner Class was won by Raymond Seebarran ahead of Narine Dasrat and Vickey Persaud.
In the final race of the afternoon, Mohamed Ahmed took the street tuner class ahead of Adrian Persaud and Seebarran.
Race time today is 08:00hrs.
