Man accused of mob killing remanded to prison

Murdered: Kevin Campbell

A man accused of being part of a mob that murdered B Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown resident Kevin Campbell, 25, was remanded to prison following his appearance at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Courts.
Shay Carter was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on March 21, 2020, he murdered Campbell.
It was reported that Campbell was stabbed and chopped multiple times about his body by a gang of about 12 men.
Following the incident, he was hospitalized, but died a week later without regaining consciousness.
Reports are that Campbell went to the aid of his younger brother, Brandon, who was attacked by two men and stabbed to the chest with a pair of scissors.
While an injured Brandon was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, his brother remained at home.
During that time, a group of men armed with cutlasses and a pitchfork invaded his premises and began firing chops and stabs at Campbell.
Campbell reportedly collapsed to the ground as the men made good their escape. The injured man was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted.
Magistrate Ruschelle Liverpool instructed Carter to make his next court appearance on February 3, 2020.
