Thirty-four-year-old Kishore Choonoo was on Monday granted bail in the sum of $200,000 on a rape charge.

Choonoo appeared at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Crystel Lambert where the charge was read to him. He was accused of raping a 20-year-old woman on April 3, 2023, at a hotel in Bartica.
The charge was formally presented to him, and he was not required to plea to the indictment. He was granted cash bail and the matter was adjourned to December 8, 2023.
