Man arrested after discharging loaded firearm at miner

A miner was on Sunday arrested after he reportedly discharged several rounds at another man with whom he had a fight at Kanaruk, Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni). The shooter has been identified as Gary Boucher.

According to information reaching Guyana Times Boucher and the other man, Festus Benn had an argument which led to a scuffle. Boucher retaliated by whipping out a .38 Snub-nosed revolver and discharged two rounds in the direction of Benn.

Benn however managed to successfully relieve the armed man of his weapon. Boucher was apprehended by persons in the area and handed over to police along with the weapon.

Boucher is expected to make court appearance shortly.
