Man arrested for assault, discharging firearm

The Police have arrested a man after he allegedly gun-butted another after which he discharged several rounds in the direction of the man on Sunday evening at the Parika Fisheries compound, Parika, East Bank Essequibo.
Police stated that the perpetrator approached the victim and made enquiries about the whereabouts of another man but he was ignored. This, however, angered the suspect, who pulled out a .38 revolver and lashed the victim to his face.
After receiving the first blow, the victim managed to flee the area but, in the process, he heard three loud explosions – like gunshots.
As such, a report was made at the Parika Police Station, and acting on information, ranks went to a Parika Stelling Road property where the suspect was apprehended. He remains in custody as further investigations continue.
