A man was on Friday arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, charged for beating and kicking his wife down a flight of stairs on Tuesday evening after she had returned home from an outing with friends.
The court heard that on July 30, 2018, the woman returned home after hanging out with friends and discovered that the door was locked. The woman related that she made several calls to the man’s cellular phone, but the calls went unanswered.
The woman detailed that after she had stood outside for some time, the man opened the door and dealt her several slaps behind her head, before kicking her down the stairs.
The man pleaded guilty as charged, but with explanation.
The magistrate recommended that the couple receive counselling, and they were placed on a 12-month bond to keep the peace.
