A man was placed before the courts to answer to as to why he assaulted another.
Keith Jerome, 34, of South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, denied the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Wednesday.
The charge against him stated that on June 19, 2017, he unlawfully assaulted Mark Gatsby with intent to cause him bodily harm.
The prosecution told the Court that the defendant and Virtual Complainant (VC) were consuming alcohol on the day in question when an argument ensued between the two.
As the argument escalated, the defendant took up a glass bottle and dealt the VC several lashes to his face which caused the bottle to break.
The matter was reported, and the defendant was arrested and charged with the offence.
He was granted bail in the sum of $30,000, and was expected to next appear in court on June 26, 2017.
