Man charged for possession of illegal drug

A 32-year-old man was on Tuesday hauled before the courts where he was slapped with a possession of illegal drug charge when he made his appearance before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The charge against Steve Fiedtkou read that on October 12, 2018, at a South Ruimveldt Gardens, Georgetown, he had in his possession 252 pills equivalent to 146 grams of Methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA), commonly known as Ecstasy (E).
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him.
Fiedtkou was represented by Attorney Siand Dhurjon, who in his application for bail told the court that his client is a well-respected Christian who is the father of three boys and is a single parent since his wife’s death back in 2016.
Police Prosecutor Simone Payne made no objections to bail being granted.
Magistrate MacLennan after summing up the matter granted the accused bail in the sum of $75,000 and adjourned the matter until November 12.
Back in 2016, Fiedktou had a charge of causing death by dangerous driving dismissed against him. The man was accused of causing the death of his reputed wife Shauna Rice on April 9, 2016, when the unlicensed motorcycle he was riding collided with a car, both occupants of the cycle were thrown off which caused Rice to sustain severe head injuries; the woman later succumbed to same.
