Man chopped during argument over women

John Mark Nascimento, 46, of Kilmarnock Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was on Sunday evening chopped during an argument over women at Cromarty Village, Corentyne, Berbice.
Police stated that on the day in question at about 23:30h, the victim was reportedly at a popular shop in the area imbibing with two women but later left and was heading home when he was confronted by the suspect. This led to an argument between them over the two women.
As a result, the suspect, who was armed with a cutlass, dealt Nascimento several chops about his body, causing him to receive injuries to his neck, hand and head after which he made good his escape.
The victim then made his way to the Whim Police Station where he made a report and was escorted to the Port Mourant Public Hospital.
At the hospital, he was treated and later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where he is currently admitted as a patient in a stable condition.
Checks were made for the suspect but he has not yet been arrested. Investigations into the chopping incident are underway.
