Man crushed to death on Carifesta Avenue

The head of a so-far unidentified man was crushed and his brain matter splattered on the roadway after he was run over by a minibus on Tuesday morning on Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown.

According to Police reports, the driver of minibus BWW 4632 related that he was proceeding west along the southern carriageway of the Avenue when he suddenly felt an impact. The driver said that he stopped and upon investigating, discovered the victim lying on the roadway with his head smashed.
The Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the man, who was of East Indian ancestry.
The body has since been transported to the Lyken Funeral Home, to await identification and a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the 48-year-old bus driver of Cove and John, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was arrested and was made to undergo a breathalyser test, which he passed. Nevertheless, he remains in custody assisting with the investigation.
The vehicle has also been impounded pending investigation.
