Police are on the hunt for a man who reportedly dropped a bag containing a firearm and several rounds of matching ammunition near the Caricom Secretariat in Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown.
Acting on reports received, Police officers on patrol went to the area at about 00:10h on Sunday where they observed several persons in a social gathering.
In accordance with the provided information, the officers spotted a man wearing a white jersey and a pair of long blue pants, carrying a black one-strap bag.
However, upon seeing the Police, the man swiftly dropped the black bag and made good his escape. The bag was retrieved and upon inspection, a .32 pistol and five rounds of matching ammunition were found inside.
Investigations are ongoing.
