Police are now hunting a male who reportedly managed to evade them on Thursday after dropping a parcel containing a pistol and several live rounds of ammunition along the Mabura Trail, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
According to information received, ranks in the E Division (Linden-Kwakwani) were conducting an exercise at Mabura and about 14:15h, a male was seen approaching on a motorcycle.
Upon seeing the ranks, the suspect reportedly dropped a taped parcel, turned his motorcycle around and sped away. Ranks attempted to pursue him, but to no avail.
The parcel was retrieved and upon checking, it was found to contain a 9mm Taurus Pistol and four live matching rounds of ammunition. The weapon was lodged as the Police continue their hunt for the rider.
