The Police are on the hunt for two males who upon seeing them dropped a bag containing one single-barrel shotgun and three live rounds of ammunition at Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice.

Police stated that on Monday at about 00:30h, ranks of the division were on mobile patron along the Stanleytown Public Road when they observed two men on pedal cycles riding in the opposite direction.
At the time, one of the men was carrying a haversack on his back and they were both acting in a suspicious manner.
As such, the patrol vehicle stopped and upon seeing this, the man carrying the bag allegedly jumped off the bike and started to run while the other rode away.
In retaliation, a Police rank went after the man with the haversack. The suspect reportedly dropped the bag, ran into a clump of bushes and made good his escape.
The bag was retrieved and upon searching same, the firearm and ammunition were unearthed. The items along with the abandoned bicycle were taken to the Central Police Station and lodged.
Up to press time, no arrests were made.
