Man fined $20,000 for beating wife

A Mabura Hill, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) man, who assaulted his wife, was fined $20,000 when he appeared before Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
Benedict Harry was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm committed against Vanessa Harry.
According to the prosecution’s case, on October 11, Harry beat his wife, which resulted in her receiving injuries to her hand. Failure to pay the $20,000 fine will result in him serving a month in prison. (G13)
