Man fined for unlawful wounding

Denzil Wilson was last week fined $30,000 and ordered to keep the peace after he admitted before Georgetown Magistrate Faith McGusty on Thursday that he had unlawfully and maliciously wounded his common-law wife.

Wilson told the court that it was a misunderstanding, and that at the time of the wounding, his wife was pulling his hand whilst he had a padlock in the other hand; and when he turned, the padlock hit her.
The wife told the court that she moved out after the incident, but would like the matter to be dismissed against the man.
Having ordered that he pay the fine or spend six weeks in prison, Magistrate McGusty further instructed Wilson to keep the peace between himself and his wife.
