Man gets 30 months’ jail for breaking into mandir, homes

Forty-one-year-old Gopaul Singh of Ankervill Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice, was on Monday sentenced to 30 months in jail on six counts of break and enter and larceny.

He appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Albion Magistrate’s Court where he pleaded guilty to all the charges when they were read to him.
The unemployed man was charged with two counts of break and enter and larceny committed on a grocery shop – property of Gannis Prittipal – and another two counts committed on a house owned by Samantha Maripeen.
He was further charged with two counts of break and enter and larceny committed on the Shivashram Saga Mandir.
