Man gets life sentence for raping 1-year-old

Rodney Kurtzious who was on Thursday found guilty of raping a child was handed a sentence of life imprisonment by Justice Jo-Ann Barlow at the Sexual Offences Court.

of 11-1. At sentencing, Justice Barlow told Kurtzious that the crime was one of the worst she has ever seen and as such, she handed down the hefty sentence.
The convicted rapist will be eligible for parole after spending 25 years in prison.
Kurtzious had previously denied that on July 27, 2017, in the county of Demerara, he sexually penetrated the toddler. The man was unrepresented while State Counsel Seeta Bishundial appeared for the prosecution.
