Man gunned down at East Ruimveldt identified as Madewini resident

The lifeless body of a man that was found on the roadway at Self Help Square, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, on Sunday has been identified as that of Dexter Lynch, 49, a vendor of Madewini, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

Police stated that the man’s body was positively identified by his brother, Cedric Warrick, on Monday in the presence of a detective at Memorial Gardens.
It was reported that Lynch’s body bore a single gunshot wound. Police stated that at about 03:05h on Sunday, ranks received a report from an unknown caller about a body was seen lying on the roadway.
Upon arrival at the scene several minutes later, officers observed the victim lying face down. He was clad in a pair of black pants, a multi-coloured shirt along with a blue hooded sweater, and a toque on his head.
Further observation of the body discovered what appeared to be a gunshot injury on the left side of his abdomen.
The scene was processed by the officers and one .40 spent shell was recovered about 6ft south of the body. Also found next to the body was a haversack containing two bottles of alcoholic beverages, two bottles of cologne, two body sprays, two knives, and $18,860 in cash.
Police investigations are currently ongoing.
