Man hospitalised after losing control of cement-laden truck
A 39-year-old man of Nonpareil, East Coast Demerara (ECD) is in stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he lost control of a cement-laden truck on the ECD Public Road at Happy Acres on Saturday.
Acting Regional Police Commander Philip Azore told Guyana Times that the man, who was identified as Kwasi Hykes, was driving at a fast pace along the ECD Public Road in a motor lorry bearing registration number GVV 301.
However, he lost control of the truck when he attempted to navigate a turn at Happy Acres.
As a result, the truck flipped several times before crashing into a guard rail after which it slammed into a concrete fence.
At the time of the accident, the driver was the only person in the truck. He was taken from the wreckage and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted.
An investigation is underway.
