A 49-year-old guest at a city hotel in Hinck Street Lacytown, Georgetown was on Wednesday evening arrested with one .38 pistol and five matching rounds of ammunition.
The Police have said that, based on information received, ranks went to the hotel and made contact with the suspect who was a guest in one of the rooms, and requested to conduct a search. At the time he was accosted, the suspect was carrying a black bag around his shoulder, which, when searched, was found to contain one Bryco .38 pistol and five matching rounds of ammunition.
The suspect was asked to produce his firearm and ammunition licence, but told the ranks that he did not have one. As such, he was told of the offences committed, cautioned, arrested, and escorted to the Brickdam Police Station, where the firearm and ammunition were lodged and he was placed in custody. Charges are expected to be laid shortly.
