Man on trial for 2014 murder of Albouystown businesswoman

Murder accused Malcolm Culley

Malcolm Culley is currently on trial for the murder of Albouystown businesswoman Sumintra Dinool, who was found dead in her home on June 19, 2014.
Arraigned before Demerara High Court Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall and a jury assembled to hear the case, the accused has pleaded not guilty to murder committed on the woman.
Reports are that, at about 04:00h on June 19, 2014, the son of this 65-year-old woman found her bound and gagged in her residence at Barr Street, Albouystown, Georgetown. Her bedroom had been ransacked, and her hands and legs had been bound with telephone cord to the rails of her bed.

Dead: Sumintra Dinool

The media reported in 2014 that a quantity of electronic equipment, including a flat-screen television set and other items, were taken from the home. However, some cash was reportedly found in the slain woman’s bedroom.
According to media reports, the Police had said there was no visible sign of forced entry into the home.
Dinool, a vendor, had lived at this Albouystown property for about 46 years. The post-mortem showed she had died from strangulation.
