Man on trial for rape of underage girl

The trial of Julius Tejowah commenced on Wednesday morning before Justice Navindra Singh at the High Court in Georgetown.
The accused has denied allegations that on July 31, 2015, he engaged in the sexual penetration of a child under 16 years. The matter was said to have occurred in the county of Demerara.
Tejowah is being represented by defence counsel Maxwell McKay, while Prosecutor Tuanna Hardy is leading the State’s case. On Tuesday, a 12-member jury was empanelled to hear the case in which several witnesses are expected to testify.
