Man remanded for larceny

Twenty-five-year-old Kurt Lewis, of Lot 81 Middle Street, Georgetown, was on Monday remanded to prison on a larceny charge by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan when he made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

It is alleged that on January 18, 2017, at Croal Street, Georgetown, Lewis stole one gold chain valued $100,000, a pair of gold earrings worth $10,000); a ring valued $10,000; a gold band worth $3000; a cellular phone valued $50,000 and a handbag valued $10,000, property of the Virtual Complainant (VC), Kelly Gou.

According to the prosecution, none of the items were recovered with the exception of the ring, which was in Lewis’s possession at the time of the arrest.

Lewis pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to prison until January 27, 2017, when the matter would continue at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
