Home News Man remanded for narco-trafficking
Akeem Callender of Lot 186 Charlestown, Georgetown has been remanded to prison by Georgetown Magistrate Fabayo Azore, before whom he was arraigned on Friday to answer a possession of narcotics charge which stated that on January 5, 2018, he was found with 338 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Police Prosecutor Simone Payne told the court that Police ranks swooped down on Callender in Charlestown after he was seen acting in a suspicious manner. A search was conducted on a bag he was carrying, and Police unearthed leaves, seeds and stems which they suspected to be cannabis. He was told of the offence, taken to the station and charged.
Callender’s Attorney, Melville Duke, in a bail application, stated that his client is young and has no previous convictions. However, the lawyer’s submission was overruled, and Callender was remanded until February 2.
