Home News Man remanded to prison for robbery
Keon Acting appeared before Georgetown Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus on Wednesday to answer to a break-and-enter charge alleging that between May 24-25, 2019 at Kumaka Water Front, North West District, Region 1 (Barima-Waini), he broke and entered the home of Lloyd Cameron and stole one tablet valued at $70,000, property of Tyra Cameron.
The 27-year-old farmer pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
Prosecutor Adduni Innis objected to bail on the grounds of the prevalence of the offence and the penalty it attracts.
She further stated that the defendant is known to the Police since he had previous encounters with the law, and he has pending matters in the courts.
She continued by saying that two matters of similar nature were recently dismissed against him.
Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus upheld the Prosecutor’s submission and remanded the defendant to prison. He is expected to make his next court appearance on June 4.
