Roopnarine Hariwar was sentenced to spend three years in prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
Police stated that in November 2014, while on the East Bank of Demerara, he drove motor lorry GPP 9557 in a manner dangerous to the public thereby causing the death of Ramdular Dhanraj.
The Magistrate declared that all evidence presented by the defendants were found to be sufficient and, as such, she handed down her sentence.
The defendant’s Attorney appealed the matter and the Chief Magistrate stated that she noted his appeal.
