A man was shot once on Monday after he armed himself with a cutlass and attacked ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) in Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
Based on Police information, the suspect is only known as “Phalai King”.
Reports are Police ranks were patrolling the area when the man emerged with a cutlass and attacked them. In response, the officers shot the suspect once to the left leg. He was then taken to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC), where he was currently a patient under police guard.
Guyana Times understands that the man ‘habitually’ attacks persons with a cutlass or other instruments around the community. He is also suspected to be of unsound mind.
Police are gathering more details about the incident.
