Man, son released from hospital following

The 33-year-old man and his six-year-old son who were struck down by a motor car on Thursday evening while they were on a bicycle, were discharged from hospital and are said to be recovering speedily.

This is according to the man’s wife, Trisha Barjol, who relayed to Guyana Times that her husband, Alim Mohamed, sustained “a burst head” while her son’s leg was swollen as a result of the accident.

Even though the accident was not a fatal one, Mohamed has been cautioned by doctors not to return to work until approximately 21 days.

This, according to Barjol, will no doubt cause the family to struggle financially for a while. She is however, grateful that both her husband and her son are recovering.

Mohamed is a labourer, while Barjol works at the Shell Gas Station in Ogle, on the East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Details relating to the driver of the motor car remain sketchy, but Mohamed’s wife informed this publication that the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident along with her husband are expected to report to the Beterverwagting Police Station at 10:00h tomorrow.

This newspaper had reported that on Thursday night, Mohamed, of lot 25 Le Resouvenir, ECD, was travelling from his mother-in-law’s home in La Bonne Intention, ECD, where he had picked up his six-year-old son on his bicycle.

Baljor relayed that she was informed via a phone call that her husband and son had been struck down by a motor car, while she was at work.

Mohamed and his son were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by public spirited persons at approximately 19:00h; however, at 23:33h last night, they were still waiting to receive treatment and a CAT scan.
