Man wanted for raping minor in Region 2 nabbed on EBD

Thirty-four-year-old Hemraj Sankar also called “Raymond”, who was wanted for questioning in relation to a matter of rape of a child under 16 years committed in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), was on Monday arrested on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD).

Police stated that the act was reportedly committed on the minor in 2016. However, on Monday at about 17:00h, a party of policemen from the Golden Grove/Diamond Police Station were on patrol when they came upon the suspect who was identified as the wanted man.
As such, he was arrested and transferred to Region Two for the continuation of the matter.
