Man… …with a plan

Your Eyewitness was quite pleased to find out that the last LOO – Norton – was still alive and kicking. Well…if not exactly kicking, at least twitching to suggest he’s alive!! Your Eyewitness wondered, however, whether he mightn’t still be the LOO since a replacement hasn’t been voted in yet? There’s the theory that these official positions can’t be left unoccupied – since power-hungry types might rush in to fill the power vacuum. Kinda like Sanction Man’s doing right now by calling himself “LOO-in-waiting”!! THAT title is derived, of course, from the old, mediaeval “lady-in-waiting” who served – the term’s ambiguous! – higher officials in the Court!!
Anyhow, it seems that Norton surfaced in a (virtual?) press conference and offered his plans to “revitalise” the PNC!! Which had been mauled by Sanction Man’s WIN party that replaced it as the major opposition party! It seems the gist of his plans is to start out 2026 by finding out the “desires of youths” – and then work on getting those desires fulfilled!! He vaguely mentioned getting social workers to offer guidance to the unsatiated youths!!
Norton has clearly abandoned his earlier explanation for the PNC’s loss – the PPP raising the dead and having them vote for the cup. Hence their cleaning up of Le Repentir Cemetery!! He’s now honed in on youths – who had defined themselves as “Scrapeheads” – and joined WIN en masse!! As such, he doesn’t have to canvass his lost flock on their “desires”!! Those had been on display ever since Sanction Man mobilised them in the wake of the Adrianna Young tragedy!! These were passions like money, food, sex, mayhem, looting, burning – and inflicting condign violence on anyone who stymied their desires!!
Now Norton’s no stranger to these nihilistic “desires” of youth – having let off steam on behalf of the PNC ever since his teens!! And he’s no spring chicken!! There was a time when he was like a Pied Piper to the youths – especially in GT!! Who could forget him literally lighting up the city!! But your Eyewitness has a suggestion for Norton. If by his suggestion about “social workers” he intends to reform the Scrapeheads, then maybe there’s another tried and true method that came to your Eyewitness mind in this Xmas season – the Church!!
Hadn’t Timothy 2:22 not only spoken to the unwholesome “desires” of youths but also suggested what to replace them with?? Remember?? “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, and peace with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart!”
Now since Norton has chosen not to enter Parliament he’s got the time to don the robes of the priesthood and minister unto the wayward Scrapehead youths.
And return them into the PNC fold!!

…and big brother
An intriguing position has been extended by some Caribbean leaders – starting with Ralph Gonsalves – to chastise T&T’s PM Kamla for approving the very concrete US initiatives in helping her fight against drug lords. Evidently, that’s violating our commitment towards the Caribbean as a “Zone of Peace”!! Can you believe this?? Here it is: Mad Maduro hasn’t only gone ahead and done what most thought he wouldn’t – told the World Court to buzz off and gone ahead with his de facto annexation of two-thirds of our national territory!! Didn’t that just blow whatever “Zone of Peace” we had in the Caribbean clear out of the water??
Your Eyewitness sees this as telling a girl who’s been stalked by a lecher for a decade that she mustn’t scream – even as he’s running behind her in a dark alley!! So the girl should be worried about waking up the neighbourhood??
Hell!! She SHOULD be waking up the neighbourhood!! And anyone who complains of losing sleep should be walloped!!

Even as some are still kvetching – rightfully – about the blackouts that threaten to make a mockery of our “festive” season, others are criticising the Government for not putting the gas-fired generation plans on hold!! Go figure!
