The Laparkan Invitational Golf Tournament was held at the Lusignan Golf Club on Saturday, July 27, with proceedings getting underway from 12:45 hrs.

Under fair weather, the eager golfers took to the Course, but to the players’ dismay, a heavy downpour halfway during the tournament caused play to be stopped after only 9 holes had been accounted for.
Nevertheless, the golfers utilised the afternoon to review the day’s play and receive coaching on improving the techniques of their game. This was done by veteran former Captain Patrick Prashad.
Mike Mangal, Deoram Dinanauth and Carlos Adams emerged champions in their respective flights. In the 20-28 flight, Carlos Adams (31/13) topped the field, while 2nd place was a tie between Pope Emmanuel London (33/11) and Paton George (33/10). Pope Emmanuel won on the last six holes’ countback.
In the 11–19 flight, Deoram Dinanauth (33/9) topped the field, while George Bulkan (36/9) placed second.
In the 0-9 flight, a tie ensued between Mike Mangal and Alfred Mentore at 36/5 for the winning spot, but Mangal had scored better on countback of the last 6 holes, thus he was given the first place and Mentore was given second place.
Dr Joaan Deo, representing Captain Chatterpaul Deo, was heartened at the performance of the golfers, and noted that the support, skill level and camaraderie displayed augur well for development of golf in Guyana.
