The action continued at the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) on Saturday as Mike Mangal kept up his good form by winning the BK International Golf Tournament.
Mangal, who won the Barefoot tournament last week, shot a net of 68 (HC 9 and a Gross 77), while Rabindra Persaud took second with a net 71 (HC 14 and a Gross of 85). An improving Ronald Bulkan was third with a net of 73 (HC 19 and a Gross of 92). Mangal also took trophies for Best Gross with a score of 77 and Longest Drive. Nearest to the Pin went to Kassim Khan.
Speaking on behalf of BK International, Office Manager Egan Bazilio said the company was happy to support the club as part of diversifying its sponsorship of sports.
Also sharing his sentiments after the tournament was LGC Public Relations Officer (PRO) William Walker who said, “The BK tournament showcased a competitive field or 28 golfers taking the field, each improving their game for the upcoming Guyana Open. However, the next tournament we have in the line-up is sponsored by Massy Group and is set for this Saturday, 10 September.”
Walker also relayed that despite the heavy rain that affected parts of Guyana, the conditions at LGC were not affected as much and remained favourable for the tournament. He also explained that the LGC s making great strides in preparation for the Guyana Open in terms of having the course at its peak condition and also with the schedule of events.
Walker explained that avid golf fans can look forward to the Club launching the Open – its first major event, which is expected to be held within the next few weeks.
