As the celebrations continue in the 21st annual Middle Pocket Pool Competition at the Middle Pocket Arena located in Middle Road, La Penitence, Sunil Mangru battled some 68 opponents to be crowned the king of the pool table.

The Tournament which began on Saturday lasted through the night and finished at 09:00h on Sunday morning. Mangru who is the defending champion, conquered Vijay Sankar in the two best out of three format final match of the tournament walking away with the $40,000 cash prize and first place trophy.

Sankar, however did not leave empty handed was awarded the second place prize of $20,000 and a trophy.

In a match up for the third and fourth place positions, Ravi Ramlall, who is also the owner of the Middle Pocket Arena was victorious in that decider, having won Ian Rodriguez to win $10,000 and a trophy.

Ramlall extended his thanks to all the sponsors who came forward to make the event a success and the overwhelming turnout citing it as a positive for the sport and the best birthday celebration he has had in a long time.

Ramlall revealed that the annual pool competition has been scheduled around his birth anniversary every year for the past 20 years and it is a tradition that he has kept by hosting the summer 8-ball pool competition.

The tournament received sponsorship from Ansa McAl Trading, Starr Computers, Brian Urling, Romeo and Kumar Sharma and Skipper’s Jewelery.
