Manniram Prashad is newest CWI Director

Guyana Oil and Gas Energy Chamber (GOGEC) President and Gaming Authority Chairman Manniram Prashad has been appointed one of the newest Cricket West Indies (CWI) independent non-member Directors.

This appointment of Guyana’s former Tourism and Trade Minister has no ties to the local Board, the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), since the appointment was made directly by CWI.
According to well-placed sources, Prashad’s appointment to the regional cricketing board will be similar to that of former World Cup-winning Captain, Daren Sammy, who was recently appointed as an independent director.
According to a CWI media release from last month, “Sammy is one of three (3) appointments of Independent Directors approved at last Thursday’s CWI Board of Directors’ meeting to serve for the next two years. He joins Trinidadian Attorney Mrs Debra Coryat-Patton and Jamaican Surgeon and University Administrator, Dr Akshai Mansingh, who were both re-appointed to serve a second term.”
In June, the CWI had stated that this meant one slot remained for the fourth and final appointee.
All Directors’ appointments will expire in 2023 at the conclusion of CWI’s Annual General Meeting of that year.
