Manns to lead Guyana at CWI Women’s Under-19 Championship

Danellie Manns will captain Guyana’s 14-member squad at the 2026 Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Women’s Under-19 Championship, the Guyana Cricket Board announced on Wednesday.
Akeela Stephens has been named Vice Captain, while Rickesha Kisten will take responsibility behind the stumps as the team’s wicketkeeper.
The squad will be coached by former West Indies cricketer Tremayne Smartt, with Clive Grimmond serving as manager during the regional tournament.
The championship will give Guyana’s leading young female cricketers an opportunity to compete against some of the best Under-19 players from across the Caribbean. It will also provide them with valuable match experience and a chance to showcase their talent on the regional stage.
Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) President Bissoondyal Singh expressed confidence in the selected players, and said the tournament forms part of the board’s continued investment in women’s cricket.
“This championship represents an important opportunity for our young female cricketers to gain valuable regional experience, develop their skills and proudly represent Guyana,” Singh said.
He added that the board remained committed to creating pathways for talented players to advance to the senior national and West Indies levels.
“We are confident that this squad will compete with determination, discipline and pride,” Singh said.
The GCB also extended best wishes to the players, Smartt, Grimmond, and the rest of the management team ahead of the tournament.
