White Tiger Martial Arts Academy championships…

The White Tiger Martial Arts Academy hosted its annual championships at the Town Hall in New Amsterdam last Sunday, and a number of martial arts schools, including The Academy of contemporary Martial Arts, participated.
The tournament proved to be a success, as a number of students were rewarded for their efforts in the various forms of martial arts.

Malia Marcello of the Academy of Contemporary Martial Arts was in splendid touch, bagging gold in the speed kick, sparring and freestyle kata categories. His teammate Ezekiel Abelflameout was superb in the sparring category, where he placed third in the freestyle kata.
It was a momentous night for the Academy of Contemporary Martial Arts, as Neil Machado finished third in the freestyle kata, Naipaul Persaud claiming the traditional kata and taking the runner-up spot in sparring and freestyle kata respectively.
Dhanraj Dyal bagged gold in the traditional kata, placed second in sparring and second in freestyle. Chad Bourne placed third in traditional kata, third in freestyle kata, and third in sparring. Rodwell Alleyne placed first in sparring, first in traditional kata and second in freestyle. Aaron Bourne won the freestyle kata and sparring, while he placed second in the traditional kata. Instructor Master Dellon Hyman placed second in traditional kata and freestyle kata, while the Academy of Contemporary Martial Arts placed second in team kata.
Meanwhile, training continues as per schedule at the Mahaica Guinness Bar, the Perth Society Hall, and at the Anna Regina Multilateral Secondary on the Essequibo Coast. Grading of students in Essequibo will be held on July 24.
