National Schools Basketball Festival 2016
The Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) National Schools Basketball Festival, Georgetown & East Coast Regionals continued last Saturday with three matches played in the U-14, U-16 and U-19 categories collectively.
In the first match of the day, Queen’s College (QC) fell to neighbouring Marian Academy 29-9. Corey Graham had 8 points and 8 rebounds and was supported by Tyrese James who added 4 points, 6 rebounds and Duard Lewis who added 6 points for the Marian side.
Lugard Mohan had 6 points and 2 rebounds for Queen’s College.
In the U-16 cayegory, St Rose’s High steam-rolled St Stanislaus College in a game which finished 67-6. Anthony Yansen had a game-high 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals, Atilla Williamson had 11 points and Kwesi Roberts turned in 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals for St Rose’s. Gordon Trotman had 4 points and 6 rebounds for Saints.
In the Under-19’s, President’s College (PC) got past Marian Academy 61-54. Kadeem Peterkin and Jahleel Duke had 26 and 19 points respectively for PC. Jordon Alphonso had 24 points while Judah Stephney had 14 points and 16 rebounds for Marian Academy.
