Marian’s Academy, Plaisance to face off in NSBF U-19 Finals

As semi-final action continued in the National Schools Basketball Festival at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Thursday evening, the dominant Plaisance Secondary U-19 males overcame a resistant President’s College side by 52 to 47 points.
Nigel Bowen had a game- high 24 points and 10 rebounds for Plaisance while Andrew Johnson and Reuben Reid scored 10 points apiece to seal the win.
Anton Fileen scored 19 points and 7 rebounds in a valiant effort while Akeem Crandon’s 14 points and 11 rebounds were in vain for President’s College.
The consistent Marian’s Academy is yet again in the Regional Finals after fighting off an inspired Government Technical Institute team by 34 to 29 points.
Marian’s Timothy Thompson led with 10 points, 10 rebounds while Jether Harris also had 10 points and 8 rebounds; Jahleel Young also contributed 9 points and 6 rebounds for the victors.

Shamar Huntley fought hard scoring 15 points and 6 rebounds with Richard Telford adding another 11 rebounds for GTI.
Following the finals across all divisions of the National School Basketball Festival Regionals, the National Championships will also tip off at the same venue on Monday, July 3 from 13:00hrs.
