Home News Mash Day drunk driver fined $7500
Michael Beharry was on Thursday last handed a $7500 fine and licence endorsement after he admitted to driving his PFF 1028 motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
When the charge was read to the defendant at the Wales Magistrate’s Court, he agreed with the prosecution’s facts that on February 23, 2018 at La Grange Public Road, West Bank Demerara, his breath alcohol level exceeded the prescribed limit, being 71 micrograms.
However, Beharry said that he was not driving alone at the time. Magistrate Rushell Liverpool informed the defendant that if he defaulted on paying the fine, he would spend one week in jail.
