Mason fined $100,000 for break-and-enter charge

Thirty-three-year-old Seechand Persaud of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) was on Thursday fined $100,000 – with a default sentence of two months’ imprisonment – on a charge of break and enter and larceny.
He appeared before Magistrate Zamilla Ali-Seepaul at Leonora Magistrate’s Court where he pleaded guilty to the offence.
The charge against him stated that between January 12 and January 14, 2021, at Tuschen New Scheme, EBE, he broke into the dwelling of Romel Amsterdam, a 38-year-old labourer, and stole a quantity of items.
After committing the act, Persaud was arrested and charged.
