Mason granted bail on robbery under arms charge

Winston Munroe, a 26-year-old mason of South Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was arrested on December 31, 2025, by Police in connection with an armed robbery offence.
Munroe was subsequently charged with the offence of robbery under arms, which is alleged to have been committed on a 32-year-old male construction worker of Better Hope, ECD, on New Year’s Eve at Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara.

Munroe appeared on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court before His Worship Clive Nurse, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty, and bail was granted in the sum of $200,000.
As part of the bail conditions, Munroe is required to report every second Friday to the Police and to stay away from the virtual complainant.
The matter was adjourned to March 9, 2026.
