A mason who was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital on Friday evening with a single gunshot wound to his abdomen succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.
The dead man has been identified as 44-year-old Kevin Phillips of Melanie Damishana, ECD.
Based on reports received, the shooting incident took place at about 22:20h at Bachelor’s Adventure, ECD.
While information about the incident remains sketchy, the Police stated that an eyewitness reported that he was driving along Bachelors Adventure Middle Road at about 22:20h, when he noticed Phillips sitting on a concrete culvert.
The eyewitness further stated he then saw a male walking up to the victim and pointing what appeared to be a handgun at him after which he heard a single loud explosion. The suspect was seen running away from the scene.
The eyewitness reportedly picked up the injured man and rushed him to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated, admitted, and underwent emergency surgery. The injured man, however, took his last breath at about 6:30h on Saturday.
The Police are yet to arrest the suspect as investigations continue.
