Mason shot in leg by Police remanded

The mason, who was shot to his leg while wrestling with a Police Officer, was on Wednesday remanded to prison by Magistrate Fabayo Azore when he appeared before her.
Akeem Rajcomer, 27, of Lot 62 Leopold Street, Georgetown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to two separate charges – robbery under arms and narcotics trafficking.
He denied that on June 28, 2017 at Leopold Street, Georgetown while being armed with a gun, he robbed Dexter France of one haversack containing one Timberland boots, nine and a half pennyweights of raw gold, $44,000 cash and a quantity of clothing with a total value of $194,000.
The second charge against him alleged that on the same day at the same location, he was found with 50 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
On the day is question, the Police were attempting to arrest the defendant in connection with the robbery when he attempted to disarm a Police Officer but was shot in the process.
A search was later conducted on his person and the drugs were found in his left side pants pocket.
He was remanded to prison and the case will continue on July 26.
