Massy hosts Health, Wellness Fair

Massy Distribution (Guyana) Inc partnered with a group of organisations to host a Health and Wellness Fair on Friday last. The event was conducted at the company’s locations at Montrose and Land of Plenty on the East Coast of Demerara and Essequibo Coast respectively.

The Health and Wellness Fair was held in observance of World Day for Safety and Health at Work while at the same time in keeping with the company’s ‘Being a Force for Good – Creating Value, Transforming Life’ initiative. The company also hosted a 3K Fitness Walk across the Canje Bridge which was held on Sunday, April 23 in commemoration of this event.

The event targeted employees and their families as well as customers and the immediate residents and businesses with in the communities. At the Fair, over 420 persons, including two hundred school children, benefited from the free services provided. These services included skin care consultations, dental and eye care examinations and referrals, blood pressure and blood sugar testing, as well as information on sexual and reproductive health. Adults present on Friday were also afforded the opportunity to donate blood to The National Blood Transfusion Services.

Among the group of organisations included in this collaboration were agencies such as the Cheddi Jagan Dental Centre, the Guyana Responsible Parenthood Association (GRPA), the National Blood Transfusion Services (NBTS), and Optique Vision Care, as well as others.

Massy Distribution and Massy Trading are distributing arms of Massy Distribution (Guyana) Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Massy (Guyana) Ltd. The company is one of several entities that was recently awarded by the National Advisory Council on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH), for ensuring its’ employees are working in an environment free of hazards and risks. As such, this fair was yet another initiative in accordance with Massy’s Occupation Safety and Health strides.
