Mc Gill defeat Barbados Police Force to take tour of Barbados to 3-2

The Mc Gill Superstars Sports Club continued their 2022 tour of Barbados by registering another win, which takes their tally to 3 wins and 2 losses in their tour matches.

Mc Gill will be hoping to win their next game, so they could leave Barbados with successful tour figures of 4-2

They defeated the Barbados Police Force Cricket Club by 60 runs, and will be hoping to win their final game on Monday and end the tour on a high.
In that 20-over match, which was played at the Police SC ground, Mc Gill won the toss and elected to bat first. They found their run flow in jeopardy, with their Police opponents bowling with discipline and employing a variety of strategies to pick up key wickets at regular intervals.

Narendra Persaud bagged 3-5 and top scored with 40

But just when it looked like the Police had every escape route covered, Narendra Persaud came to Mc Gill’s rescue with an innings of 40 runs that included three boundaries and two maximums. He was supported by Prahalad Singh with 29 (4×4) and Abdul Razack with 27 (2×4).
Despite this respite, Mc Gill could muster only 129-5 in their allotment of overs. Bowling for the Police, Karran Bhola took 2-17 from his four overs.
Needing 130 for victory off 120 balls, a seemingly modest total for any team enjoying home advantage, the Police unit found themselves on the wrong side of a Guyanese oven, and were restricted to 70 for 8 in their 20 overs. The only players to make any contribution were Melroy Albert with 18 (1×4) and Randall Padmore with 11.
Narendra Persaud took 3-5 from his two overs; in the process, showing his all-round abilities by striking at the right times to police the Police innings. Persaud was supported by 2 four-over spells of 2-8 and 1-13 from Ganesh Puran and Travis Persaud respectively, enabling a Mc Gill victory by 60 runs.
The Guyanese side will now look to Monday’s fixture, when they duke it out with the Barbados Defence Force in hope of leaving Barbados with successful tour figures of 4 wins and 2 losses.
Speaking at the end of the match, Mc Gill batsman Travis Persaud said, “Feels good to win back-to-back games after the loss to a strong UWI team. We are getting accustomed to the conditions over here now, and it shows in our performances. We have one game remaining, and we are looking to finish on a high on Monday, so we can come back home on Tuesday with 4 wins under our belt.”
